Job Overview
MBUSA is implementing a new Big Data team, which will operate in a DevOps model. The team consists of several different roles including a Product Owner Big Data Infrastructure Architecture. The team will collaborate with business stakeholders and will be responsible for the overall product, enhancing sprint by sprint.
The team is the key contact to our business for:
Collecting and implementing business requirements and defining solutions for the future leading discussions with stakeholders to identify priorities, user stories, define backlog, usability, sprint planning aligning strategies with applications’ team & business to ensure that the set up & structure supports business priorities.
Responsibilities :
Within the DevOps team, you are the product owner of the big data infrastructure platform for marketing and sales in Mercedes-Benz USA. As such, you are the owner of the overall solution and will be responsible for: designing a new holistic big data infrastructure architecture to transform the big data environment into a highly valued business asset
understanding the global industry and competitive landscape, analyzing and supporting the dynamic data science and analytics needs of the future
leveraging appropriate data platforms and technologies
developing, implementing and driving a realistic strategy in alignment with the business to simplify data integration, increase usability and plot overall solution blueprints
transforming from on-premise to Microsoft Azure based solution
cooperating closely and sharing best practices across regions, divisions and functions, you are the subject matter expert & point of contact for peers from other regions/entities as well as the interface to central services team, alation, Azure
developing overall solution blueprint architecture by leveraging global skills & architecture blueprints:
o how to ingest data in an efficient and timely manner from our applications databases to our data lake and the data warehouse
o how to manage and track KPIs for overall solution
o define state of the art security model and maintain proper documentation
o how to define and handle the future data warehouse in the cloud
o architect infrastructure landscape in the scientific, predictive analysis use-cases with R and Python
o evaluate current reporting landscape that consists of Tableau and Cognos - assess, define and architect infrastructure for reporting and dash boarding needs in a DevOps model with our business and applications' team
Ø designing, owning and collaborating with big data operations lead on the security model
Ø focusing the team’s efforts on customer benefits - anticipating and addressing needs of customers and business partners, managing requirements and resources to enable the team’s success
Ø seeing the "big picture" and thus understanding relevant interrelationships – provide purpose and background to the team
Ø driving innovation, creativity and "out-of-the-box" thinking in the team and promoting an environment of "lessons learned" and continuous performance improvement
Ø setting high standards and achievable goals for each sprint
Education :
Bachelor’s Degree (accredited school) or equivalent work experience with emphasis in:
• Computer/Information Science
• Information Technology
Must have extensive knowledge of /experience in:
Ø Dashboard and reporting software – e.g. Tableau, Cognos or PowerBI
Ø Cloud: MS Azure (platform)
Ø Database and data warehouse technologies
Ø Data catalog and modeling software like Erwin, Alation
Ø DevOps and Scrum working models
Ø Working with and managing cross-functional teams
Ø Architecture, design, implementation of Big Data solutions
Ø Hands-on experience with major Big Data technologies and frameworks including Hadoop, MapReduce, Pig, Hive, HBase, Oozie, Mahout, Flume, ZooKeeper, MongoDB, and Cassandra
Ø Experience with Big Data solutions deployed in large cloud computing infrastructures, main focus on Azure
Ø Strong knowledge of programming and scripting languages such as Java, Linus, PHP, Ruby, Phyton
Ø Big Data query tools such as Pig, Hive and Impala
Ø Project Management Skills:
o Ability to develop plans/projects from conceptualization to implementation
o Ability to organize workflow and direct tasks as well as document milestones and ROI’s and resolve problems
Ø Proven experience with the following:
o Servers, storage, networking, and data archival/backup solutions
o Industry knowledge and experience in areas such as Software Defined Networking (SDN), IT infrastructure and systems security, and cloud or network systems management
