Lab Equipment Manager at Plano, TX

Title: Lab Equipment Manager
Location: Plano, TX
Duration: Long Term
 
Lab and Vehicle Management
  • Manage inventory of >100 multimedia parts (pieces) and >100 peripheral parts (pieces) than will make up 50 test benches and approximately 20 retrofit vehicles
  • Follow 4S practices for better management of lab equipmentincluding inventory and labeling of assets.
  • Manage bench check-incheck out and vehicle allocation report
  • Ensure lab and vehicle safety, security and other control procedures are adequately managed
  • Oversee vehicle maintenance, repairs and tolls/citations (Coordinator)
  • Take of supply and demand of required hardware, parts
  • Procure or work with Connected Technologies Asset Management team to procure small items such as cables, antennas, connector pins, USB cables, cameras, external speakers/mics, etc.)
  • Bench Assembly, Basic Training and Technical Explanation
  • Assemble parts to create full bench environments
  • Provide test equipment users with an overview of how to use the equipment
  • Ensure the equipment is pointed to the proper server environment and data setup (DCM) is complete for the testing purpose
  • Answer basic questions about the components and connections in the test equipment
  • Refer more complicated questions to the appropriate resident engineer
  • Work with design engineers to determine the appropriate design for retrofitting current-model vehicles with future-generation hardware
  • Identify internal or outsourced resources who can perform multiple retrofits
  • Oversee schedule to retrofit vehicles
  • Assist with actual vehicle retrofits where feasible
  • Coordination and arrangement of event logistics such as location reservations and refreshments for participants
  • Checking that location supports Wi Fi, GPS and SXM radio (if needed)
  • Coordinating invitations, directions, and security badges if needed
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas: electronics, automotive systems, communications networking, information technology
  • Ability to understand design of electronics systems
  • Experience creating standard operating procedures; ability to implement lab and equipment rules and guidelines
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to use Excel, JIRA and other tracking tools to manage inventory
  • Ability to communicate clearly, verbally and in writing
