Hi, This is Matt from Cohesive Technologies and below are the requirements with one of our esteemed client so please let me know if you are comfortable or if you have any consultant to submit Title: Senior Resident Mechanical Engineer Location: Novi, MI Duration: 6 Months About the Role A Senior Resident Engineer, Mechanical provides a wider variety of technical support tasks using a combination of advanced engineering principles and techniques. They operate with little guidance/supervision as Subject Matter Experts (SME) in their defined area of specialization. What You Will Do - Lead the integration aspects of new product development programs at the customer's site.
- Convey design requirements to the customer, including reserving packaging space for speakers, enclosures and amplifiers.
- Interact with the customer's various engineering organizations, such as audio, infotainment, body-in-white, trim, instrument panel, wiring, electrical, system integration, and the design studio.
- Review 3-D CAD engineering models (NX for Design, Team Center, CATIA) of mechanical packaging concepts. Review prototype and/or production-level CAD models and design documentation. Insure delivery of models to customer.
- Communicate customer design direction and changes to the design team, including program management, transducer and amplifier engineering, and sales.
- Facilitate the transfer of CAD files, specifications, change requests, roll-out plans, between the customer and us using data exchange systems as necessary; engineering, and as appropriate, quality personnel.
- Review packaging models with the customer and the development team.
- Coordinate the communication of related design documentation between the customer and us, such as; specifications, GD&T requirements, connector pin-out definitions, communications protocols and wiring diagrams.
- Track engineering change requests within Harman's and the customer's system.
- Chair and/or attend customer meetings as our engineering representative. Coordinate meeting assignments with fellow Resident Engineers, as necessary. Provide immediate feedback to the appropriate personnel.

- Design reviews at the concept, prototype, and production stages of development
- Issue-resolution reviews following customer builds at the concept, prototype, and production stages of development
- Pilot reviews and launch-readiness meetings
- Review sample parts (concept, prototype, and production-level) with the customer for immediate feedback.
- Verify integration of components in concept-, prototype- and production-level vehicles.
- Compare customer and our components against CAD models, specifications and drawings.
- Assess the customer's mindset. Report substantial changes in the customer's (Engineering, Purchasing, Quality, Manufacturing, etc.) perceptions of HARMAN's performance to Engineering and Sales management.
- Assist Sales personnel in supporting the customer, as necessary.
- Forward information on customer and competitor activities relevant to our interests.
- In the event that we are a Tier 2 supplier, coordinate communications and meetings with the Tier 1 suppliers regarding engineering design and integration issues.
- Review these and similar activities with fellow Resident Engineers.
- Release appropriate customer engineering documentation.
- Travel periodically to support program reviews, plant visits, training, including some international travel.
- Review assignments with fellow Resident System Integration Engineers, as required
What You Need - Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field and 5 years of experience; alternatively, Master's Degree in above mentioned fields and at least 1 year experience in research and development
- REQUIRED Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
What is Nice to Have - Master's degree in Engineering or Technical Field
- Specific Prior Experiences:
- Experience working as a resident engineer with a Japan or North Automotive OEM
- Familiarity with Mechanical Engineering Design Tools (Seimens for Design, Team Center; CATIA)
- Formal training in structured problem solving methods (Is/Is Not, Fishbone)
What Makes You Eligible - Be willing to travel up to 5% domestic and international travel
- Be willing to work in a client-site (Warren, MI)
- Successfully complete a background investigation and drug screen as a condition of employment
