Location: Redmond, WA
Duration: 3 to 6 Months
 
Rates: $ 48 per hour C2C

We are looking for a passionate Human Factors Engineer to help us create devices and experiences that makes people's lives better. 
 
As a member of the Human Factors Center of Excellence (HF COE) you will be helping to revolutionize the way we think about and design products at Microsoft. Through our world-class interdisciplinary team of human scientists, and state of the art lab facilities, we push beyond the limits of convention to innovate and inspire designs and experiences that truly maximize human capabilities. The transformative work of the HF COE can be seen in many of the iconic products that Microsoft makes today, including Surface, HoloLens, and Xbox. This is a Senior position requiring a person with deep understanding of the complex interactions between humans and machines, and the ability to inform and drive superior and innovative design solutions. As part of the HF COE, you will work closely with design, engineering, program management and business teams to introduce and implement best practices for maximizing the comfort, enjoyment and use of Microsoft device and software experiences. 
 
This position will be supporting strategic and tactical product development activities for HoloLens
 
Responsibilities:
*             Guide and inform product designs, optimizing for human factors and ergonomics (HFE)
*             Serve as user advocate across the product development process 
*             Design and conduct a range of HFE assessment and research methods, applicable to all product phases from concept to validation
*             Organize and manage HFE studies in internal laboratory settings as well as in field studies with the US Military and DoD Civilian personnel
*             Establish best practices in design that maximize user experience and comfort 
*             Augment existing HFE core competencies or grow new competencies into the COE
 
Skills and Competencies:
*             Minimum of 3 to 5 years industry experience in human factors and ergonomics or related field
*             Demonstrated ability to employ appropriate methods (qualitative and quantitative) and tools (lab instruments, surveys, and assessment) to address questions at hand
*             Experience summarizing data, rapidly performing statistical analysis using Excel, R, or Python, and detecting patterns in unstructured data 
*             Ability to synthesize findings and turning insights/data into actionable recommendations
*             Ability to plan and manage projects involving internal and external partners
*             Demonstrable experience in technical and scientific writing
*             Comfortable interfacing with government agencies and other external corporate partners
*             Demonstrated ability for cross-team, multidisciplinary collaboration
*             Minimum Master's degree in Human Factors, Industrial Engineering, or related fields
