Job Role:
The purpose of this position is to act as a Scrum Master / Agile Coach to help in the adoption of Agile within development teams as part of our ongoing Agile transformation. Have the ability to manage Agile and Waterfall projects
Responsibility and Experience:
•Combined Scrum Master / Agile Coach role
•Guide and coach the teams and organization to follow Agile practices
•Support and coach the Product Owner on Agile practices
•Working as an Agile coach across multiple teams or embedded in a single team with additional hands on responsibilities.
•Experience in transforming a water fall department to Agile.
•Ability to simultaneously lead one or multiple Agile projects
•Prepares regular insightful reports and communications to stakeholders on project status, schedule and costs.
•Assists with removing day to day blockers from the team
Contribute to broader organizational Agile rollout as an Agile leader / champion. Passionate about Agile.
Has a clear understanding of main Agile methodologies and their pros and cons
•Ability to operate in a Bi-Modal organization (Waterfall and Agile)
•Works closely with stakeholders, sponsors, and clients providing direction to project definition.
•Experience in working with DevOps toolset for Continuous Integration and Continuous Testing (Selenium etc.)
•Experience with electronic story boards and Wikis such as Jira / Trello / Confluence
•Technical software development background advantageous especially knowledge of good coding practices (XP, Automated tests etc).Manages daily stand up meetings, reviews, retrospectives, sprint planning, demos, and other scrum related activities.
•Tracks and communicate scrum metrics including team velocity and sprint/release progress.
•Designs optimal solutions and prevent distractions that interfere with the ability of the team to deliver the sprint goals.
•Ensures business objectives are understood and achieved.
•Holds teams accountable for meeting iteration/sprint commitments.
•Mediates, arbitrate, mitigate and facilitates impediments with the team members and the organizational hierarchy.
•Empowers and supporting self-organization
•Facilitates discussion and conflict resolution
•Promotes collaboration between many self-organizing, cross-functional development teams
•Facilitates methods for the team to seek higher productivity levels
•Potentially some additional "process / PM tasks" still required during transition period
•Will lead onshore and offshore teams throughout the project.
Education:
•BA/BS in computer science with 8-12 years' experience or related field 10-15 years corresponding experience without degree
•Experience Minimum 8 -12 years' experience in information technology
•5+ years as a scrum master
•Hands on Development or Business Analysis experience in the past is a big plus
•Leadership experience is mandatory
•Previous Insurance Industry experience is a plus.
•Managing project/program financials
•Knowledge and skills (general and technical)
•Worked on Agile teams likely as a Scrum Master
•Strong skills in facilitation, continuous improvement, empowerment and transparency.
•Knowledge of Agile approaches – Kanban, Scrum, XP, etc.
•Knowledge and experience with Agile techniques – Automated Testing, User Stories, TDD, Continuous Integration, Pairing, Agile Games, etc.
•Up to date technical knowledge in areas such as Java/Javascript and devops a plus
•Worked in a software development environment using technologies MongoDB, Express, AngularJS, Node.js, apigee or Selenium is a plus
•Experience with relational database is a plus
•Knowledge of Micro Services is a plus
Other requirements (licenses, certifications, specialized training)
•SCRUM or equivalent Agile certification is a must.
•PMP certification is a plus.
