The Executive Office of Education (EOE) is seeking an ASP.NET Software Developer to add to our application development/support team.
This person will be responsible for developing new code and supporting existing code hosted across the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE),
Department of Early Education and Care (EEC) and the Department of Higher Education (DHE) website properties.
This position will work with stakeholders and the development team to design, develop and support .Net code using industry standard practices and tools.
EOE IT follows a lean/agile development methodology. The ideal candidate can work in all tiers of the architecture and has experience with ASP.NET using both VB.Net and C#/MVC,
Bootstrap, JavaScript frameworks/libraries, Oracle/SQL Server and multi- tiered applications.
They will also have experience in all phases of software development – design, development, unit test, QA test support and defect remediation.
Responsibilities
1. The Senior .NET Software developer is responsible for collaborating with the EOE/DESE/EEC/DHE Organization, Project Managers, Architect, Business Analysts, and Quality Assurance, in the process of creating software deliverables and artifacts.
2. As a member of the team, you must adhere to the organization's methodologies and standards, and propose improvements based on software development best practices.
3. Daily usage of the following tools: Microsoft Visual Studio Professional 2017/19, Team Foundation Server, SQL Server Management Studio and Oracle SQL Developer.
4. Participation in full software development lifecycle including requirements analysis and design, working closely with analyst, design and QA personnel.
5. Strong knowledge in multi-tier Service Oriented Architecture (SOA)
6. Solid experience with client-side JavaScript libraries.
7. Solid understanding of design patterns (e.g., MVC)
8. Proactively raise issues and offer solutions.
9. Participate in daily Kanban meetings to discuss current tasks and status.
10. Submit weekly status reports.
Education and Experience Level
1. Minimum of a bachelor's degree with a major in software engineering, computer science, information systems, or a related field.
2. Thorough knowledge of tools and processes used in the Software Development Lifecycle Process.
3. Proven record of accomplishment working on large-scale projects with diverse stakeholders and with cross-functional teams.
4. 3-5 years of experience as a full stack ASP.NET using VB.Net Web Forms and C#/MVC.
5. 3-5 years of experience hands-on knowledge of SQL Server and Oracle
6. 2-3 years JavaScript frameworks/libraries (e.g. Angular JS, Bootstrap and jQuery)
7. Knowledge in OO development principles, multi-tier web application design and relational database principles
8. 2-3 years working with Service Oriented Architecture (SOA)
9. Experience with accessibility laws and WCAG 2.1 compliance.
10. Experience with Agile development methodologies
11. Experience with responsive web design/development.
12. Strong problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn
13. Excellent written/verbal communication & documentation skills.
14. Experience with cloud solutions/technologies, specifically AWS is also a plus.
15. Ability to adjust to changing situations to address emergencies, program changes, or production requirements.
