Position: SAP Solution Manager- ChaRM Admin

Location: Chicago, IL

Duration: 6+ months contract

 

Solution Manager-ChaRM Admin  Responsibilities :

  • Systems (Production & Test instance or solution manager) and working within the agreed upon tolerances
  • Ensure the Fiori Front end is communicating and working correctly
  • The system is providing the correct alerts on a timely basis
  • Support the other Smithfield teams with the SolMan applications
  • Change and Release Management (ChaRM) - IT Service Management (ITSM) for hyper care periods - Process Management (Business Process Operations BPO) - Process Management (Solution Documentation SolDoc) - Process Management (Business Process Change Analysis BPCA, Scope & Effort Analysis SEA) - Test Suite - Custom Code Management (CCM) - Alert Monitoring - Root Cause Analysis (RCA)
  • Ensure the Early Watch reports are being generated
  • Take appropriate actions to correct any defects in SolMan and provide proper advisory to management
  • Put together action plans for proper maintenance of SolMan (for example Support Pack upgrade every six months)
  • Recommend system upgrade based on measured thresholds

Dispatcher and Administrator – Responsibilities

  • Ensure the Cycles are open, extended and closed based on business needs (1. Continuous for ongoing production support 2. Phase cycle for project sprints, Waves, upgrades).  Note- each SAP Product will require its own i.e. ECC, BW, HCM, TM, PO
  • Ensure that the ChaRM documents (Request for change- RfC) are assigned to the right Phase/Continuous cycles, De-coupling RfC from phases, step RfC through all statuses
  • Generate ChaRM change documents (Normal, General, Administrative or Urgent) based on the requirements for RfC
  • Approve the RfC after defining the Scope (Landscape which is impacted )
  • Extend scope of RfC as appropriate
  • Manage association of transports to the ChaRM change documents – De-coupling the Transport and re-assigning to another change document
  • Work with the Release Management Transport administrator for scheduling, approvals and post import notifications

Transport Administrator – Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the proper approvals are in place and assemble the list of transports to be imported for each Smithfield cycle.  Presently, every Thursday after COB. 
  • Each SAP Product (ECC, BW, HCM, TM, PO) will require its own list or a combined with dependencies denoted Also the dependency if mentioned in RfC has to be followed. 
  • This list will be utilized transporting into the N+1 instances for the purpose of Retrofitting.  This also will require coordination with the project team for awareness and retesting.
  • Ensure the proper approvals are in place for all off-cycle transports which are to be imported into production.  Note each SAP Product will require its own review i.e. ECC, BW, HCM, TM, PO.  Also, the dependency if mentioned in RfC has to be followed.
  • Ensure that the ChaRM documents (Request for change- RfC) are assigned to the right status for the Import into Production, Due to authorization restrictions imports will not be allowed unless in correct status
  • Do the Import function by utilizing the ChaRM Task list steps
  • For Retro-fit also use the Task List steps
  • Update the Document status after the transport functions are completed
  • Email respective groups on transport results.  If failure then plan for remediation has to be socialized and then execute corrective action (i.e. re-import)
  • For Retro-fit failures put together remediation plan and work with project groups to resolve (i.e. create new transport with all modifications and import into N+1 QA instance
  • After Test/QA Instance refreshes prepare list of change document transport to be re-imported using the task list processes

Release Manager - Responsibilities

  • Align the business modification requirements as it relates to the software support the business
  • Utilize the CHaRM tool for all SAP software modifications
  • Utilize the Change Management in Solution Manager for the ongoing Support of the SAP Landscape
  • Integrate the Legacy and Non-SAP software modification with the SAP Support landscape
  • Audit the Smithfield Change Management being done in ChaRM
  • Report the Results and performance of the SAP Projects relevant to ChaRM usage.
