Interview Process (Virtual/On Site/Phone): Virtual. Interviews will be conducted on December 1st between 8:30-4pm CST
Top 3 Skills & Years of Experience:
1. Minimum 2 years experience developing web applications using a server-side application framework (e.g. Ruby on Rails or Laravel)
2. Minimum 2 years experience working with Linux command line, including using Git
3. Minimum 2 years experience working with RESTful APIs manipulation.
Nice to Have:
- Experience working with HTML, CSS/Sass and JS
- Experience with custom WordPress theme and plugin development
- Experience using CI/CD methodology and tools
- Experience with Linux systems administration
- Knowledge and experience with cloud technologies, in particular AWS
- Experience working with container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
Duration of the Contract: One year. Manager would like candidate to start by December 7th
Onsite or Remote? Candidates MUST be WI residents or willing to relocate to WI at their own expense prior to starting. This position can work 100% remote (within the state of WI).

Additional Details: Need for posting: University Marketing is seeking a full-time, web application developer to build innovative, well-engineered websites to support core functions of the University of Wisconsin-Madison and promote the university's brand. This service is needed pending the departure of a full-time developer who is leaving the team.
Application Architect for University Marketing Web Services Team (development of UW websites & web applications)
Tasks/Job Responsibilities include:
- Leads and participates in the design, development, layout, coding, maintenance, and support of websites and applications to meet the needs of functional users.
- Designs, develops, and deploys custom interactive web applications and integrates logically designed databases.
- Designs, develops, and deploys web applications and integrates databases based on relevant website coding scripts.
Skills Needed:
- Minimum 2 years experience developing web applications using a server-side application framework (e.g. Ruby on Rails or Laravel)
- Minimum 2 years experience working with Linux command line, including using Git
- Minimum 2 years experience working with RESTful APIs manipulation.
