Title: Machine Learning Engineer

Location: Remote

Duration: 6 Months

This will be for the Merchandising Retail Team. They support the merchants at Walmart. Their projects support different domains: High level understanding of which products to offer in stores. What product offerings do they supply in stores and online. Space allocation, where to locate products on a shelf. Replenishment domains, understanding domains and supplies on purchase orders and out of stocks. Good outcomes in the stores from Supply perspective. Forecasting, understanding planning forecasting. Understanding dynamics of economy from a national level that will impact how to price a product (this involves using data to understand demand and price sensitivity and how to set a price for a particular product). They’ll be working on hundreds of gigs of data, terabytes of data, 1000 + categories: scale by default is given not on a small scale. Do experiments, test on scale. Every problem is multiple hundreds of gigs of data

Work with the Data Science team to make sure they understand the systems, and build scalable systems
Building Machine Learning Algorithms
Collecting all metrics to learn what is happening with the modes, improving a scale. Making sure the metrics fit the main requirements. Making sure the data is clean and organized
Scaling algorithms and working with Data Scientists and collecting metrics are the main requirements
Need to understand systems, engineering, data processing, and sense of algorithms to build metrics at scale
Ideally 5-6 years of experience
Experience in software development, data science, and/or machine learning applications
Demonstrated track record of fostering a constructive, collaborative, and rigorous team culture
Exceptional communicator, and are comfortable and effective working with senior business stakeholders and product management
Outstanding experience in the application of advanced statistical methods and working with large, complex data sets
Ability to lead investigations into multiple dimensions of ads quality and system performance, and draw conclusions from data, recommend actions, and develop a roadmap of experiments to improve the system
Deep, practical understanding of modern machine learning and its components
Familiar with state of the art practice of data science, preferably in advertising applications, and can lead the application of research to step-change improvements in our capabilities
Deep expertise in some of the following domains: Algorithms, Systems Architecture, Artificial Intelligence, Operational Research, Data Mining, Distributed Systems, Machine Learning, Networking, Statistics, Game Theory, Auction Design, or other experience with rigorous Quantitative Analysis or Systems Software implementation
Enjoy working closely with operational teams on deployment, monitoring, and management concerns
Enjoy actively managing the performance of the team reporting to you and value mentoring top talent
